I have worked for bus companies for 38 years (Jefferson Bus Lines, 1973-1986; Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, 1986-1997; Charlotte Area Transit System, 1997-2010, 2011-Present; Metropolitan Transit Authority,Houston, Tx. 2010-2011). My wife and I recently moved to Houston, Tx., to help my daughter with our grandson who is autistic. I work for the Transit company as a bus operator. Moved back to Charlotte,NC for educational purposes in May, 2011.I worked part time as a radio announcer (KKFI-FM 90.1, 1989-1997; WGSP-AM 1310, 1997)
In 1986 I was the DJ for a reception for Martin Luther King III at the Federal Reserve Bank and also for Stevie Wonder at the Kemper Restaurant below the Kemper Arena. I started a gospel instrumental group in 1968 called the Edwardsville Strings. In 1997, we all moved to Charlotte, NC. In 2000 I was hired as a tour bus driver for John P. Kee and the New Life Community Choir (2000-2007). I'm in the process of writing a fictional book about the ups and downs of four r&b/pop/soul groups in the 1970s. I've played two solo concerts in 2010, and recorded them for CDs and DVDs. There's a video clip of me playing a song for my wife (Youtube - James Cunningham Concert)and others, (Youtube - James Cunningham Fly Like A Bird).
