It's still a great life! Instead of repeating myself, please check out my Q&A. But I will add that I came to Wyandotte at the beginning of my junior year. I grew up in boondock Wyandotte County, attending Lindbergh Elementary, Coronado Jr., and Washington HS. (There was a year in town during kindergarten at Park.) Those two years at Big Red literally turned my life around, and I attribute it to my classmates, teachers, and working on The Pantograph.

Q: Current Relationship Status?
A: Single (divorced after two marriages)
Q: Any Children?
A: One...Shelley, my 38 year-old gorgeous daughter now living in Laramie, Wyoming with her husband Braun Knudsen. Thanks to them, I have two wonderful grandkids: Mazzy (8) and Grey (11).
Q: Any Pets?
A: No pets, except for mongrels owned by my neighbors in the apartment complex.
Q: Military History?
A: Two years in the United States Army, Vietnam era vet.
Q: Work History?
A: Retired after teaching in KCK high schools 30 years (Harmon, 21 years; Washington, 2; Schlagle, 2; the old Rosedale HS, 1; and advising the school newspaper at Wyandotte the last three years; and add a year at Leavenworth HS before I was drafted). My last formal teaching/advising job ended several years ago after five years of teaching both newsmagazine and yearbook at Bishop Ward HS [our rival!] in KCK, but was rudely "let go" in 2009 due to budget cuts. Since then, I have been substitute teaching in the Olathe school district. I have been a professional film critic and entertainment writer for last 40+ years with my last local gig writing my weekly Crum on Film movie column for three Dispatch-Tribune newspapers in the Northland of KC. This was followed by my 8 years of being published on the web's VideoReviewmaster.com (the In-House Critic) as well as RottenTomatoes.com. I wrote a weekly movie/entertainment column for the Kansas City Kansan for 10 years. For the last few years my primary publishing venue is the web's Crum on Showbiz. I am a Senior Member of The Kansas City Film Critics Circle. For a time I was theatre critic and reporter for Wyandotte West newspaper in KCK. I am also a published cartoonist: three books, a magazine, and several newspapers beginning at Wyandotte's Pantograph through The Bulletin at Emporia State and the Kansas City Kansan. Over the years I have edited five books as well as fellow film critics' reviews.
Q: Any post-Wyandotte education?
A: BSE from Emporia State; MA from KU; many post-grad hours at various universities.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Movies (no surprise), writing (film reviews on both Rotten Tomatoes and my site, Crum on Showbiz), cartooning, reading, old time radio shows, and music listening.
Q: Favorite Movie(s) or type of movies?
A: Gad, where to begin?! Drama, western, action, comedy, documentary, and musical are tops. Please visit my blog: Crum on Showbiz. (See link.) My reviews. feature stories. comic strips, and rare show biz photos are all there.
Q: Favorite type of music?
A: Still THE fan of the World's Greatest Entertainer, Al Jolson. (I have produced nine Jolson CDs.) Also love other artists of his era, and later singers Sinatra and Crosby. Gershwin is a favorite. Also enjoy classical, film and Broadway scores.
Q: Favorite High School Memory?
A: The friendships I hold even now. Working with my newspaper family on The Pantograph is deep in my heart. All the spirit and tradition at Big Red is a forever memory too. I wish I could still cruise Peters Drive-in, take pix at Wyandotte's football and basketball games, and see all my good friends every day.
ROTTEN TOMATOES
Site where nation's leading film critics are published. Over 1,900 of my reviews are posted here. A "Rotten Tomato" listing means the movie is poor; a "Fresh Tomato" means it is good or better.
CRUM ON SHOWBIZ
Film, theatre, radio, concert, and book reviews are included as well as nostalgia pieces and celebrity interviews. Rarely seen photos are posted, many from my personal collection.
