I retired after teaching journalism and advising publications at Shawnee Mission South since 1980. I am now teaching part-time at the Accelerated Schools of Overland Park. Patrick Barber (also 1971 Wyandotte grad) and I have been married 41 years; we have two daughters, Lauren, 34, and Jamie, 30.

A: Married to Patrick Barber since 1975. "We're still having fun and he's still the one." |
Q: Any Children? |
A: Two great girls. Lauren is an RN, a charge nurse at Menorah Medical Center; Jamie graduated from KU and is a full-time mom. |
Q: Any Pets? |
A: Oh yes..... a Persian cat named Sadie,and an adopted addition, Sammie, a Westie/Schnauzer mix. |

A: Taught journalism and English at Washington High School from 1975-1980. Since then I have advised school publications and have taught English and journalism at Shawnee Mission South. Retired in 2010. Now I'm teaching English/Yearbook at Accelerated Schools of Overland Park -- part-time. |
Q: Any post-Wyandotte education? |
A: KU -- degree in journalism education. Masters degree in education from Mid-America Nazarene University. |
Q: What are your hobbies? |
A: Reading, walking, traveling with Pat and the family, and girls' trips with my daughters, which we take occasionally.Spending lots of time with my two grandbabies -- a boy who is 2, and a girl who is 1. |
Q: Favorite Movie(s) or type of movies? |
A: Suspense flicks, thrillers and romantic comedies. |
Q: Favorite type of music? |
A: You name it --we probably have it. Love most kinds of music depending on my mood. |
Q: Favorite High School Memory? |
A: Writing for The Pantograph and gab sessions in "the john," the Pep Club lunch room where we met every day. All the games, meets and especially State basketball tournaments in Wichita! Wyandotte was the best. |
