Also in 1956, went to work for Swift & Company and spent my business career in the meat packing industry. Left Kansas City in 1968 beginning an odyssey within the industry that saw moves to Chicago, IL, Scottsbluff, NE, Stockton, CA, Defiance, OH (Twice), Cleveland, OH, Wilson, NC, Corpus Christi, TX and Chesapeake, VA.. Achieved the position of President & COO of Dinner Bell Foods in 1987 but success was short lived as we went through a hostile takeover in 1989 that did not work out and the company folded in 1990. I then finished my career as VP of Operations with Smithfield Foods and retired from that position in 1999. Since two of the daughters and two grandchildren were in this area we remained in Chesapeake in retirement. I remain active in the sport of bowling as a member of the Professional Bowlers Association and as a USBC Certified Silver Level Coach. Actually have had more success as a Senior than in my early years having won the Virginia State Seniors Singles in 1995, and 4 individual Gold Medals at the FIQ International Senior Open in the years 2001 and 2002. Also have six 300 games to my credit with 5 of those coming after the age of 65. My golf game is another story that we won't discuss here, although I still love to play.
